I will be running an 8 week evening class at the Draw Brighton studios in New England House every Monday 7-9.30pm starting 2nd October 2023. 

Over the duration of the 8 weeks we will be exploring how to best use oil paints to create alla prima portraits.

Students will learn the principles of using oil paints and good housekeeping. Through a series of fast-paced fun exercises, we will work with a live model to explore working in tone and then build up our colour mixing with limited palettes. We will be looking at a mix of contemporary and traditional artists for inspiration. 

It will be a fun, relaxed course packed full of top tips & ideas for you to take away, and resources for you to really start developing your own style. Students should expect to paint at least one new portrait per class.  This course will be ideal for students who’ve not used oil paint before or who would like to gain more confidence in their practise. Please note, there will no session on Mon 23rd October due to half term.
